On my travels south to Texas with my mother a month ago, we made a brief layover in New Orleans. We stayed at an eclectic renovated historic hotel. After arriving we walked down to Bourbon Street to check out the scene.
We took a city tour the next morning and my favorite part was the cemeteries. The story goes that they are above ground “ovens” where the bodies disintegrate in the heat. This also alleviates floating bodies coming out of the ground during a major flood.
The other part of town we visited was called the Garden District. We walked for many miles checking out the old historic French style mansions.
The other mandatory activity to do is to ride the trolley. This is a really way to see the city come to find out. It’s around a dollar to ride from start to finish.
This is definitely a town I would like to spend more time in soon!
